The Cruise Watch website was developed by Susan in 1999 as a much needed online Alaska cruising guide in the days before the travel industry moved online. It was maintained through the 2016 Alaska season. This popular and comprehensive travel guide covered Alaska cruising, excursions ashore, Vancouver for cruise passengers, pre and post cruise British Columbia and more. Susan's nine visits to the 49th State have taken her from Mt. McKinley to Ketchikan giving her the knowledge required to create and maintain the site.The content was used by other travel websites including CruiseMates.com. My online publishing journey began back in 1999 when I completed a Digital Production for Print and Web Certificate and entered this exciting new world. This was followed by online publishing and Social Media courses at the University of British Columbia. Having been a freelance travel writer since founding Travel-Write in 1989, it was logical that my first website would be Cruise Watch, focusing on Vancouver-Alaska cruising. This led to my work on many travel websites and publications including six years with CruiseMates.com, 16 years with Ensemble Travel Group's Digital Marketing department and contributing to several editions of The Unofficial Guide to Cruises as well as newspapers and magazines. My extensive writing experience covers many areas including business, marketing, travel, journalism, music criticism, instructional and creative. My formal academic background in Music at McMaster University and The Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, has given me the analytical skills and discipline required for Online Publishing work.
